The foundation

Our goals

To promote geographic education by honouring the memory of geography teacher Milica Mihajlović, the first woman from the Resava region to obtain a university degree after the Second World War, through an annual cash award to the best students of the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade.

Encouragement

To encourage the academic and professional development of the best students of the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, and to open up opportunities for their personal growth.

The award

With the support and on the proposal of the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade, every year on Faculty Day (21 June) the foundation presents its plaque, together with a cash prize equal to the current average monthly salary, to the best final-year student of the Department of Geography.

People

The foundation was founded by Zoran Mihajlović. Its board consists of Milan Velebit, Ivona Mihajlović and Olivera Velebit, working in full cooperation with the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade.

Stefan Manojlović received the award for the 2025/26 academic year as the best student of the Geography study programme, graduating with a grade point average of 9.93 out of 10. Congratulations!

Milica Mihajlović (1936)

A teacher who loved geography

Born in Miliva near Despotovac, she graduated in geography in Belgrade in 1958 as the first woman from the Resava region with a university degree.
